

A beginner course that will introduce you to the basics of hand building ceramics.
This group class of 6 students, will cover essential techniques such as pinch, slab rolling, architectural building & surface decoration. A five week class ~ (2 hour class, once a week for five weeks) Take home at least four finished pieces.
All members should be able to:
o Lift and carry up to 25 pounds
o Follow written and verbal instructions
o Understand and carry out studio procedures for tools, glazes and equipment
Independent open studio use requires the abilities listed above for personal and community safety. Residents who may need assistance with these tasks are welcome in Beginning Ceramics Classes.
Successful completion of all five classes (no absences) qualifies participants for Ceramics Studio membership. This class is the primary pathway to independent studio use. Residents with prior experience may choose to take a studio knowledge and safety test instead.

Private wheel lesson with Diane Finley. Total of five (5) hours over two consecutive days. Learn how to center clay, compress, collar, and pull a wall to create a cup or bowl. Three hours on the wheel and then following day, two hours to learn the art of trimming your masterpiece.
